“Holy cow – did anyone feel that? The whole downstairs just shook.
Can anyone feel that? Holy moly it’s a quake!!! Run!”
Ok NOT really! This was a DRILL. Welcome to the Great ShakeOut 2015. We are a participating institution. And whatever you DO NOT RUN! ☺
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING…
In the event of a real earthquake you should protect yourself from any hazardous areas or falling debris. Then follow normal building evacuation procedures.
Do you know who the emergency plan coordinators are? Do you know who will be ensuring your area is clear of all people? Are you using Simple In/Out? (So that if someone is away we are not looking for them or concerned about his or her whereabouts within the building?)
Have you read the emergency plan recently? I recommend you review it. Did you know that we can continue to function even if we were unable to access this building? 40% of businesses do not open after a disaster and 25% of those that do, fail within the first year. The longer a business is off-line, the less likely it is to successfully resume. We’re committed to being a sustainable business, and its commendable how well we’ve prepared.
90 percent of small companies (fewer than 100 employees) spend less than 8 hours planning or managing their business continuity plans. Take a moment today (please) to reflect on your work environment. Be aware of safety procedures and evacuation protocols. Know who to connect with in the event the building is unsound for the resumption of business operations.
