What’s In Your Go-Bag 5/12/16

When putting food in your “Go” or “Stay” Kit, it’s good to follow this advice.

  • Store a 3-day supply of non-perishable food
  • Choose foods your family will actually eat
  • Remember any special dietary needs i.e. seniors, babies
  • Avoid foods that make you thirsty
  • Salt-free crackers, whole grain cereals and canned foods with a high liquid content are good

Following a disaster, there may be power outages that could last for several days. Stock canned foods, dry mixes and other staples that do not require refrigeration, cooking, water or special preparation are best. Be sure to include a manual can opener and eating utensils.
