This past weekend we were at the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) Drive Revolution event in Portland. What is Drive Revolution? Glad you asked. It’s a gathering of all things greenish – “transportation wise” including, bicycle enthusiasts, many electric cars, emergency preparedness, electric motorcycles, more bikes, and more electric cars, and generally a wide variety of vendors.
What were we doing there? Promoting emergency preparedness and telling people all about the GO|STAY|KIT that’s what. We wanted to compliment the good work done by The Allstate Foundation, and Points of Light, and Hands on Greater Portland. These organizations were on hand, (pardon the pun) helping people to create their very own emergency preparedness Kit. The Allstate Foundation supplied all the items that went into the Kits, and Hands on Greater Portland was there supplying the volunteer people-power to help out.
A big shout-out of “Thanks” to The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross which was kind enough to allow us to display the GO|STAY|KIT at their booth. Also, glad to see the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management was there too…talking to people about disaster preparedness.
The idea is for people to create their own emergency preparedness Kits so that they’ll be ready for any type of emergency situation. These Kits will help save lives in case of a natural or manmade disaster or other event.
