Yesterday we spoke about Family Preparedness at the Oregon State AOHN in Woodburn Oregon – its for leaders in Occupational Health Nursing. Our Powerpoint was a hit as we went over just about everything you would ever want to know concerning getting your family ready for a natural/manmade disaster.
Our PowerPoint is quite detailed, covering a wide range of topics from creating a family disaster action plan, to building a “GO or STAY” Kit, to what to tell your children in the event a disaster should happen.
Also on hand was Jacleen Simons of the Red Cross and Tracy De Pew of Peace Health Oregon West Network, they also talked about preparedness, resiliency and education as a way of increasing your family’s survival chances in a catastrophic event like Hurricane Katrina or Super Storm Sandy.
