We want to say a hearty Thank You to Theresa Simpson and Natrona County Project Lifesaver in Casper, Wyoming for their bulk order purchase of Go Stay Kits. The staff and management of Natrona County Project Lifesaver do an outstanding job of serving the emergency preparedness needs of those in their community.
Regional vulnerable populations, those with access and functional needs and others benefit greatly from the emergency preparedness expertise and knowledge that Natrona County Project Lifesaver provides to its local residents.
What is Project Lifesaver? The Natrona County Emergency Management Agency has brought Project Lifesaver to assist its residents who have medical conditions that may cause them to wander. The project is a rapid-response partnership aiding victims and families suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia related disorders and conditions such as Down syndrome, brain injuries, and Autism.
Project Lifesaver relies on proven radio technology and specially trained search and rescue teams. Clients enrolled in the Project Lifesaver program wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. When caregivers notify the local Project Lifesaver agency that the person is missing, a search and rescue team responds to the wanderer’s area and starts searching with the mobile locator tracking system.
Search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. In more than 1,500 searches, there have been no reported serious injuries or deaths. Recovery times now average less than 30 minutes.
