Portland Hazard Mitigation Plan 4/25/16

IMG_3078This weekend, Danielle Butsick, the Natural Hazard Mitigation Planner from the PBEM – (Portland Bureau of Emergency Management) hosted a community workshop in downtown Portland, where the update for the Portland Hazard Mitigation plan was discussed.

During group sessions citizens gave input and received information concerning what type of emergency event might befall the city. The PBEM wants to hear directly from area residents about the types of programs and policies that might help locals better prepare for one or all of these IMG_3082natural hazards.

IMG_3094Every American city has different natural or man-made hazards that could affect its citizenry. We here at the Go Stay Kit call on other cities across the U.S. to follow Portland’s lead, and hold these educational workshops as a way to better prepare their citizens in the event the unthinkable happens.
