The U.S. Government says you must be able to last at least 72 hours (3 days) on your own in the event of a natural or manmade disater before help arrives.
However, emergency managers that we talked to tell us that’s wishful thinking, to be more realistic, you should be able to last at least a week (7 days) on your own. In an emergency condition must of us couldn’t even last a day without help.
