Where in the World is Connie Saldana…our “ace reporter” showed up at another earthquake & disaster preparedness town hall meeting last night, this time in Jacksonville, Oregon. The seminar was hosted by the Jacksonville/Applegate Rotary Club.
“It was a good turn out,” said Connie. “About 80-100 people showed up. The whole point of these activities is to generate a culture-of-preparedness. People have to start being prepared for a disaster as a normal part of their lives. In the Pacific Northwest we don’t have major disasters all that often, but that doesn’t mean it’s never going to happen here. We have to develop a cultural awareness so that the entire community can be better prepared.”
Connie was also on hand to speak about the GO|STAY|KIT and the disaster registry. Connie is a Planner for the Senior and Disability Services of the Rogue Valley Council of Governments in Central Point, Oregon.
